The use of abrasive products is not without risks. Our responsibility to our customers, in particular in the field of the safety and of the user-friendliness, is our daily concern. Our abrasive products are developed and made according to the most rigorous quality standards to guarantee to the users a safety and an optimal user-friendliness. SAIT is certified ISO 9001.

SAIT Abrasivi is member of the FEPA and of OSA.

The FEPA, Federation of the European producers of abrasives, has for objective to promote the safety in the use of abrasives and participle actively to the elaboration and to the implementation of the European standards by concerning the abrasive products.

 

THE OSA, the Organization for the Safety of Abrasives, in close collaboration with the FEPA, has for objective to promote safety standards relative to the abrasive products and to encourage the elaboration of new standards.

The presence of the symbol of OSA on our products is a reference of safety for the user

SAFETY STANDARDS

COATED ABRASIVES

Sait coated abrasives are manufactured and tested to ensure a high degree of safety for the operator. The machines used should be equipped with all required safety accessories (Guards, screens, etc.)

• Accurate mounting is essential to maintain the safety standards and to achieve the best output from the abrasive tool

• The maximum operational speed must not exceed the one recommended for each individual product.

• Every operator must be protected by glasses, gloves and protective cloths against the possibility of material being projected as well as anti-dust masks and hearing protections.

• The inobservance of this standard may cause risk of impairment of hearing.

ABRASIVE WHEELS

Sait abrasive wheels are manufactured and tested in order to guarantee the maximum safety for the operator.

The efficiency of the machine as well as the suitable power and working speed must be observed.

Safety standards prescribe :

• Not to exceed, for any reason, the maximum speed indicated for every type of wheel;

• Not to use cutting wheels for grinding operations;

• A correct storage of the wheel in rooms with temperature between 15°C and 30]C and relative humidity between 45% and 75%

• To check the wheels before mounting it, to detect possible damages caused by handling and transport;

• A correct mounting of the wheel using suitable flanges;

• The use of the prescribed guards

• The Use of dust exhausters;

• Not to use the wheels prescribed for fixed machines with a portable machines.

• Abrasives wheels, improperly used or mounted or damage, are dangerous and can cause serious injuries to any person in the surroundings. Every operator must be protected by glasses, gloves and protective coths against the possibility of material being projected as well as anti-dust masks and hearing protection.

• The use of abrasives wheels can cause noise equal or superior to 85 dBA, consequently the operator must wear protective ear  muff or other suitable personal protections.

• The inobservance of the guideline may cause risk of impairment of hearing.
